The aim of this study is to identify economic and non-economic factors affecting life expectancy in selected Asian countries during the period 1980-2022 using spatial econometrics with an emphasis on the social-environmental interaction effect. The results indicate the confirmation of spatial correlation in selected Asian countries. The results of the cointegration test, considering cross-sectional dependence, indicate the existence of a long-run relationship between the model variables. In all spatial, the existence of strong spatial spillover effects on life expectancy is confirmed. Pollution as an environmental factor significantly leads to a decrease in life expectancy.Education (social factor) has a positive moderating effect on the negative relationship between air pollution and life expectancy. Urbanization (demographic factor) leads to a significant increase in life expectancy. Economic variables; production, employment and access to electricity lead to a significant increase in life expectancy. Also, all economic and non-economic determinants have spatial spillover effects on life expectancy. Therefore, increasing production and employment, reducing pollution, access to electricity and expanding urbanization should be the focus of policymakers in Asian countries to improve the health of their communities and neighboring countries. Life expectancy is changing with economic, environmental, social, and demographic conditions and its increase requires international cooperation.
