The goal of this article was to investigate the impact of economic sanctions on the health expenditures of urban households in the health and medical sector in Tehran. For this purpose, statistical data collected from the household budget of Tehran in the time frame of 1390-1401 (2011/2012–2022/2023) and the Infinite Horizon Model method were used. Economic sanctions, in the first stage, lead to a reduction in the import of health and pharmaceutical products, consequently decreasing citizens' access to these essential goods. This issue primarily affects vulnerable populations, especially women, children, and the elderly. The statistical sample examined in this study comprises 60,099 households. The results of this research indicate that economic sanctions have led to a decrease in health and medical expenditures in the country. Furthermore, based on the results of the Infinite Horizon Model designed in this study, economic sanctions, through a reduction in household purchasing power, led to a decrease in the budget share allocated to health and medical treatment costs for households.
